Charged with a felony DUI? Be proactive! Call (205) 930-9717 for a free confidential consultation with an Alabama criminal defense attorney.

Drunk driving penalties are harsh in Alabama. Your first three DUI offenses are misdemeanors, with even the first offense carrying possible jail time. After your third DUI offense, each subsequent offense is a Class C felony which can have the following consequences:

  • Prison: A jail sentence of no less than one year no more than ten years.
  • Drivers License Suspension: Your drivers license shall be suspended for five years.
  • Fines: A fine of at least $4,100, not to exceed $10,100 will be imposed.
  • Additional Requirements: Attendance at a court-approved substance abuse program is mandated as well.
  • Criminal Record: Your fourth and subsequent DUI will also leave you with a permanent criminal record showing a felony conviction, which can affect your ability to seek employment, receive credit, and other consequences.
  • Additional Penalties: An ignition interlock device can be placed on your car to prevent you from driving if you have alcohol in your body.

That means at a minimum, a felony DUI conviction means at least one year in jail, a five year suspension of your driving privileges, a fine of over $4,000, and other penalties. For this reason, you should immediately contact an experienced Alabama DUI defense lawyer who has extensive experience handling DUI felony charges.

When you retain the services of Michael P. Hanle, you get Mr. Hanle, an attorney with over 15 years experience, representing you; not an associate who will be supervised by Mr. Hanle. Mr. Hanle believes he must personally know the facts, the case, and you to be an effective advocate and have the knowledge to aggressively defend you.
